A healthy fast-food option? New-to-Alabama Juice Bar launches 1st store in Huntsville

A new-to-Alabama small business that calls itself a healthy fast-food option will hold its grand opening on Whitesburg Drive this Thursday.

Juice Bar, which married couple John and Vui Hunt launched last spring in Brentwood, Tenn., is now operating a 1,700-square-foot retail store on 4800 Whitesburg Drive in Huntsville. The business opened to the public April 7, but will hold a ribbon cutting from 4-6 p.m. Thursday.

Managing partner Christy Graves, a native of Nashville who has lived in the Huntsville area since 1999, said the Hunts approached her in January about opening the store, which employs 13 workers.

“I think nationwide, health care is a big concern for everybody,” she said. “Anything we can do for wellness is really on the forefront of everyone’s minds.”

Juice Bar offer juices and smoothies that are vegetarian, gluten-free, organic when possible and made of 100 percent fresh fruits and vegetables. They also sell salads, spring rolls, fruit cups, parfaits and snacks from Mason Dixon Bakery, a gluten-free bakery in Huntsville.

Graves said they’re working to carry products from The Hummus People in Athens. Click here to check out their menu.
