It is that time of year again. People are starting to make New Year’s Resolutions. According to Inquisitr on Nov. 21, losing weight is one of the most popular goals. A new study claims that to lose weight more quickly; it is recommended dieters now follow a vegan or a vegetarian food plan. People who ate this way for eight or more weeks, they lost twice as much weight than those who focused on low calories dieting. According to Runner’s World, athletes are taking notice about the benefits of a vegetarian eating plan. They are able to lose weight, become much leaner and improve their stamina.
A study released by Nutrition tested obese and overweight participants. They divided them into five different diets.
The first group ate a vegan style of eating. They eat no meat products at all- including milk and cheese.
The second group ate vegetarian style of eating. They did not eat any meat products- but they were allowed to eat eggs and dairy
The third group ate pesco-vegetarian. They are also referred to as pescetarians. They were allowed to eat all the fruits and vegetables, plus fish.
The fourth group ate a semi- vegetarian diet. They were allowed to eat chicken up to five times a week and red meat once a week for protein. They could eat fruits and vegetables liberally.
The fifth and last group ate an omnivorous diet. They were able to eat whatever foods they wanted- fruit, vegetable or meat products.
