Jennifer Lopez goes vegan: I feel great on my plant-based diet

Jennifer Lopez has switched to a vegan diet and has never felt better. Lopez, 44, was vegetarian for a while but recently decided to eliminate eggs, dairy, and other animal-derived foods from her diet, saying the 100% plant-based eating plan gives her energy.

“You do feel better,” Lopez told Z100 radio. “I do recommend the vegan diet because you wake up and feel great! Being vegan, it’s basically no diary, no meat, everything is plant-based and from the ground. Butter is the one thing I miss!”

Still, Jennifer doesn’t feel deprived, enjoying a diet of vegetables, legumes, fruits, grains, as well as vegan hot dogs, ice cream, cheese and mayonnaise.

Lopez’s vegan conversion comes just months after superstar couple Beyonce and Jay-Z undertook a 22-day vegan-diet challenge. Beyonce and Jay-Z have since gone back to their regular eating plans, but Beyonce continues to eat one vegan meal a day, saying it helps her maintain her 65-pound post-baby weight loss.

Similarly, actor Samuel L. Jackson recently credited a vegan diet for his 40-pound weight loss and improved heart health. Jackson said reading Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn’s book, Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease and seeing his documentary, Forks Over Knives, convinced him to stop eating meat and animal products.

Since going vegan, Samuel L. said he has never felt or looked better. “I feel great,” he gushed. “I have a lot more energy than I used to have. I sleep better. I like the way I look in my clothes better. I don’t cramp as much. I exercise better. I think my circulation has gotten better.”
